Kiyo Kato-Driscoll (they/them) is a Portland-based professional dancer, educator, and advocate originally from Tokyo, Japan. They began dancing in their early teens and trained as a Jefferson Dancer at Jefferson High School before earning a Bachelor’s degree with Honours in Dance from the Institute of the Arts Barcelona. They later apprenticed with Jasmin Vardimon Company in the United Kingdom, training with Jasmin Vardimon and collaborating with international choreographers across Europe and the UK.

Since returning to Portland, Kiyo has worked as a commercial dancer and model with brands including Nike, Gap, Adidas, and Columbia. They are also a Vice President of Liminal Movement Collective, a Portland-based dance company created by and for people of color and marginalized communities.

Kiyo’s teaching practice is informed by more than ten years of training across multiple dance genres, as well as their experience teaching in Portland and Europe. They are passionate about creating dance spaces that are accessible, empowering, expressive, and rooted in community. In addition to dance education, Kiyo has worked as a curriculum developer and self-defense and martial arts instructor through Femme Rising and Rose City Self Defense. They are honored to share their experience and enthusiasm with the BodyVox community, where they grew as a student for many years.
