Daniel Switzer (he/him/they) is a Broadway performer, choreographer, director, and teaching artist who believes that the most exciting growth happens when students feel safe enough to take risks, make bold choices, and bring their full personalities into the room. Daniel made his Broadway debut in Mean Girls and has toured the country with some of musical theatre’s most beloved productions including, Disney’s Newsies, understudying Olaf, Oaken, and the Duke of Weselton in Disney’s Frozen, and understudying Boq in Wicked. Drawing on years of experience performing in large Broadway productions, Daniel helps students connect strong technique with clear storytelling, encouraging them to move with intention rather than simply execute steps. His teaching blends dance, acting, musicality, character, collaboration, and practical audition skills, with particular care for helping dancers become more confident actors and helping every performer discover what makes their individual voice compelling. He has worked with young artists across the country and within Portland’s theatre and arts-education community, including at Broadway Rose Theatre Company right here in Portland.

Daniel is based in both Portland, OR and New York City as a bi-coastal performer. He is also expanding his work as a director, choreographer, and multidisciplinary creative, serving as Artistic Director of the 2026 Portland Queer Arts Spectacular at the Alberta Rose Theatre. Whether teaching to a first-time dancer or a student just wanting to learn some fun choreography, Daniel creates a warm, joyful, and encouraging environment where curiosity is celebrated, individuality is an asset, and students are challenged to become more courageous, generous, and fully present storytellers.
