THE ROAD IS STILL BEFORE US, A BRIGHT STRIP OF DAWN

The work is about two people who pass each other by, caught up in their own independence before finally being confronted with a genuine human connection. At first, this connection is awkward and uncomfortable for each person and they leave the interaction grateful to move on. Yet, they can’t stop thinking about it. When they see each other again, they are curious and start to let their guards down. They explore what it might be like to go through life with another. By the end of the piece, they start to truly meld into each other, starting a new journey, together. This piece shows the daily experiences of so many young people – caught up in our overwhelmingly disconnected world, wanting connection, yet strangely adverse to seeking it out. “The road is still before us, a bright strip of dawn” explores what happens when we push through that discomfort and truly connect.
